How do you turn off genius

Go to Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services (at the bottom), turn Genius for Apps to Off, double-tap the home button, locate App Store in the list at the bottom, tap and hold it until it wiggles, then tap ➖ to close it, tap the home button. Now open the App Store app again and genius for apps should be off.

A "soft reset" won't close the app. If you haven't closed the app as indicated, try that.

Try this:

Settings>iTunes & App Stores>tap on Apple ID>View Apple ID>Turn off Genius.

Then it should have turned it off. You could try turning it back on, then off to see if toggling the setting would help. Don't forget to force close the App store app after doing so, then relaunch it to see if anything changed. If it's off, when you tap Genius within the App store app it should then give you the Turn on Genius button (confirming that it's off).

You can turn off Genius for Apps from the Account page in the App Store. To get to the Account page, scroll to the bottom of the App Store screen and tap the button with your account name on it. Once you turn off Genius for Apps, the App Store will no longer send information about the apps on your device to Apple. If you used Genius for Apps on more than one device, you must turn off Genius for Apps from each device.
