White core duo MacBook won't Boot. The power light comes on and it does not chime then the power light goes out. Any ideas what is happening?
New twist. I was able to boot into to terminal mode and mount the HD on my MacBook Pro. The screen on the MacBook still remains black and the power button on the front of the MacBook remains unlit. Very Strange!! It is close to Halloween!!!
First. Try unpluging from charger, remove the battery, wait 5 minutes, put charger and battery back in, and the try again. This will reset the SMC, which might or might not help. see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
Second, could be the charger or battery at fault, try each one individually (reset the SMC again before you try each one.)
Third try holding the power button down for a few seconds, this has worked for me in the past.
Fourth. The power supply circuit, or some other part of the logic board is broken, only option is repair or replace
maybe the screen backlight is dead/off and the sound is muted, try booting while holding it up to the sun or powerful light source, is there anything on the screen?
