iTunes Sync of Genius Data

On each sync, iTunes is spending 5-10 mins + purely on Genius data. Is there any route around having this penalty of several hundred to several thousand items changing each time?

Possible constraint is that iTunes Match is in use between the computer libraries on several machines.

There must be some insight on this topic or are we all spending ages whilst every Sync trawls through 100s or 1000s of Genius data entries?
