Hi all,

I signed up for iTunes Match and I actually like the service. Nonetheless in 60% of the cases this services does not work. It takes for ages to sync, error 4002 or nothing happens.

Does anyone else has the same bad experience?

    Hi Mainhattan,

same here Error 4002 in Germany. Already recognize the error since yesterday 28th October. Also other comunities report this issue. May caused by Sandy http://edition.cnn.com/2012/10/28/us/sandy-five-things/index.html?

Thanks, good to know I am not the only one.

Nonetheless I am getting more and more ****** off by Apple. I spent 24,99 and getting more error messages than service. Besdies this problem I am suffering with the latest Safari update or does Apple now also charges for the error messages?

I've had this problem since getting itunes match in early August.    I've been getting the 4002 error on and off, it's just more frequent since Sandy.   I'm thinking it is a system "time-out" error.

Anyway I recently set up a calendar entry to launch itunes in the early morning so it can try to start the match process when fewer people are in the internet.   I started with 900 songs that weren't matched now down to almost 600, but 2/3 of it was since I started using the calendar technique just about 2 weeks ago.

I haven't been able to connect iTunes Match for about 4 days now.

I can reach iTunes and can purchase and download music and TV shows, but when I try to update iTunes Match it just sits at the "Waiting for Apple to deliver your iTunes Match results" stage for about 30 minutes and then comes up with a message about not being able to connect to the iTunes Store.

I know $34.99 (Australian) isn't a lot of money but I expected this to work a little more often than it does.

It's worked about 50% of the time since I signed up a month ago.

At least Apple are consistent - my Apple TV only works about half the time as well.

I haven't been able to get iTunes Match working either in the past few days - mine also sits at the 'Waiting for Apple to deliver...' which is then followed by the 'cannot connect' message.

I rebooted my system, cleaned my system and user cache, logged in and out of my iTunes account, signed out of Genius, repaired permissions, had my spotlight index rebuild but to no avail.

After all that, I checked my console log and found this message is related to my problem

    iTunes[605]: _NotificationSocketReadCallbackGCD (thread 0x7fff7d1a8180): Unexpected connection closure...[/quote]

There is remarkably little info on this error in the Apple discussions, but perhaps we can see if your problems are related to a similiar message?

That error seems to me like the iTunes Match server is closing the connection - probably because its reached a timeout limit of some sort.

I don't think there's anything that we can do at our end to fix this - The problem is at Apples end.

Mine started working for awhile last night and then stopped again without me changing anything.

I solved my problem following these steps

    1. Delete cookies related to Apple in Safari

    2. Delete the Genius.itdb

    3. Sign out of iTunes Match

    4. Rebooted and turned on Genius

    5. After Genius is done indexing, I turned on iTunes Match - I got an error saying 'iTunes Match is synchronizing with another library - do you want to proceed?'. I clicked Yes

    6. iTunes Match started indexing and within 20 minutes it was done (I have 20K songs in my library).

This morning, I encountered the same error again (could not reach server). Delete the Apple cookies in Safari, got the iTunes Match error (synching with other library), clicked Yes and within 5 minutes, iTunes Match was ready to go.

Somehow I think this is related to info in the Apple.com cookies. Let me know if this works for you too.

    Hi mikelegg88,

I think in the same way. Apples iCloud may have a serious performance problem here. Maybe caused by the changed behaviour of the iCloud users themself. For example I changed the way I use my music library with iTunes Match and iCloud totally. A year ago I have local copies of my music on every device - my iPhone, iMac at work and so on. But now I use iCloud to stream the music where I like to have it. When I think about the way I consume my music and I can imagine that everybody out there with iPhone, iPodTouch, iPads and iMacs will do it in the same way the iCloud infrastructure and bandwith will reach the limits. The 4002 and 4001 errors that the iCloud users reporting in the last time maybe prove the assumption that Apple has to increase and scale there infrastructure here. For myself I did not recognize 400x error messages a year ago but in last time, especially on the "thunderstorm sandy" weekend I also see them very often - I had the feeling that Apple has a silent downtime for almost 4 days here in Germany. So I think there is not really a workaround existing to make iTunes Match working - it is Apples turn to increase the capacity of iCloud.

    Regards from Munich, Germany

This week it has started uploading files again to apple.  I did turn off Genius because both it and Match were trying to communicate at the same time creating gridlock.  It's a slow process.  I'm going to try @NeedNoAlias suggestion to see if it will improve.  As of today i'm down to 520 songs still "waiting"

  • wizbang_fl Level 1 Level 1

After I installed the iTunes 11 upgrade my iTunes suddently uploaded the remaining 500+ songs in just a couple hours.  WooHoo.
