Mar 25, 2014 5:59 AM in response to Yesha011by ArachNib,Alanfromnewtownards, you are a fricking genius.
I dropped my iPad down carpeted stairs last night. Wide black and grey vertical bars across the screen. I searched this morning and found your thread. I whacked it probably 20 times, never really hard, becasue I didn't want to break it. LOL! The wide bars turned into fine line barcodes and picked up more color with every whack. I then tried the other suggestion and held down the screen button and the power button for 20 or so seconds. My screen went through 3 different color changes and pattern changes before it went completely black. I pressed the power key and and couldn't believe it when that familiar white apple on the black screen popped up, just like nothing happened! Held my breath in disbelief until my screen with all my information and apps popped up,good as new!!! I can't believe it! Fricking genius! Thank you so much!

Apr 7, 2014 11:54 AM in response to alanfromnewtownardsby JoeyandIsabella,Read all the other replies, similar scenario, my daughter dropped on tile and we thought it was done!! My husband was looking up repair services as I was reading this post, so I tried and it didn't work :( . Then I asked him to try it and he was skeptical thinking we were going to make worst or break the screen. We'll I guess it takes a stronger tap than what I did cause it worked and I got to tell my husband, I told you so!!!! Thank you! I wouldn't mind sending a gift in return, I'm sure you saved us a ton of money!!!!

Apr 8, 2014 4:39 AM in response to Yesha011by Cyndi516,I'm having the same problem, but so far smacking the back and pressing the home and sleep buttons at same time isn't working for me. Please please help me, any more ideas?

Apr 8, 2014 6:22 AM in response to JoeyandIsabellaby alanfromnewtownards,Well done to you and bosalo. Unfortunately, the rules do not allow gifts etc!
Cyndi516, my solution only works in those instances where the drop has not been too severe. It is similar to a loose battery connection in a TV remote control etc. Nevertheless, it has worked for 80 plus people. You could nearly read between the lines what you will now have to do now. Sorry!

Apr 8, 2014 4:23 PM in response to Yesha011by TorresiPhone,Okay so I was excited to hear this had worked for so many people. I then started to wonder if this worked for iPhone 4s because everyone's iPad was working but this is not helping for my iphone. I wanted to ask if the phone had to be turned off, because the phone is on and you can hear the lock sound. Where exactly do I have to hit it, the only thing that happens to mine is that the blue lines start to change color. I would apreciate help.
