Result: My screens (ie safari and pages) are suddenly bigger. The font size of the top toolbar is bigger as well. I've decreased the size of the folders on the desktop-that's not the problem. Help!

Perhaps something changed in system preferences>display (I am running OS X 10.8.2 so I probably have a different look than you do).
