Final Cut Pro X 10.0.6 Magic Bullet Looks problems

Hi,

I have a very strange thing happen to me. I am in the middle of editing a project using Final Cut Pro X. I use the latest version of Magic Bullet Looks to grade all my clips. I decided to update my Final Cut Pro X 10.0.5 to 10.0.6 because i thought it had some good new features. However when i loaded up my project i noticed a strange thing happen. Some of my clips (All in a compund clip) have flashes of blue or pink lights lasting only 1 frame this is very occasionally. Its only a few that have it and i can't understand what wrong with it. I looked on the Magic Bullet website before downloading FCPX 10.0.6 and they said they had worked with Apple so that MBL would work with the new version. I just can't understand it. I wondered if any one else had this problem when updating and if so how they fixed it. Any advice from other people on fixing this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am having the same issue but only after the clip(s) or project is rendered. I am getting the same flashes but mine are more cyan/magenta and only one frame each time. I have also written Red Giant and submitted a ticket. I'm sure over time they will solve this issue but it seems to be a rendering issue with Looks. No other looks plug in has this issue.

Yes, I had a reply to my Support Ticket I entered:

Red Giant replied as follows:

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you- we are a little behind in support due to server issues and the recent holiday. While we are working with Apple for a resolution to this issue, as it stems from significant changes made by Apple in the latest PCP update- 10.0.06. Unfortunately, it is not yet known when an update will be released to fix this issue, however we are currently working with Apple to resolve this as the update needs to come from them. Once it is available, it will be released as an update through the Apple store.

Some testing has shown that re-rendering occasionally skips the inverted frame, though this is not consistant. If it is possible to roll back to 10.0.5, that would be the best work-around currently. We are as anxious as you to get this render issue sorted, but are also subject to Apple's timeline.

Thank you for your patience in this matter.

I'm in the same boat. In fact I am working on a project and had to delete all the Bullet Looks and use other grading plugins but non work as good as Magic Bullet Looks.

Hope this helps.

I have been wrestling with this same issue – however, it has nothing to do with Magic Bullet Looks specifically. I do not own MBL, but I often have the one frame color flashes (green and magenta). Occassionally the affected frame will also be turned upside down. It usually occurs on timeline clips to which I've applied Nattress Levels and Curves or Irudis Tonalizer/VFX Pro. Usually I can fix it by deleting and then reapplying the effects. Usually. But just yesterday I had a pink flash while previewing a clip in the event browser - no effects applied at all! I hope Apple is on this because it's making my life miserable. (When I upgraded to 10.0.6, I was ignorant of the "best practice" advice that they give: Save your current version of FCPX in addition to your media backups so you can fall back when this happens.http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5550)

Fix for green frames.

I too have Sporadic corrupted frames with each render attempt. Inverted green frames in my case when rendering effects like NeatVideo's Noise, or Ripple Training's RT Color Balance.

By removing the file " AlphaBlendMode.plugin " from the Quartz Composer Patches folder located at the root level of my hard drive ( Drive/Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Patches ), I no longer have this problem.

I'm not sure which program originally installed this plug-in but the get info is:

Same for me. I did not find the plug-in as well. What I was doing was finding the added frame and creating a break. That eliminated the frame. Lot of messing around; however. I also found some Magic Bullit effects didn't cause the problems I had no problems, for example, with Black and While. I am using other effects like Magic Bullit but will still be glad when this issue is resolved.
