How should I add color to this shot?

On a recent outdoor shooting I had taken this video on a village road on a sunny afternoon. The road had trees lined up on one side and I had encountered this situation of alternate shady and bright areas, shady areas being dark on account of tree shade. The screenshot will give the idea of the scene:User uploaded file

Any advise as to how to add color grading to this shot will be deeply appreciated.

Push up the mid exposure. Pull down the shadows. Push up the overall saturation. Pull down the shadow saturation. That should get you going. Nothing you can do about the blown out highlights. Your camera doesn't have enough exposure latitude. Always protect the top. You can improve the shadows and mids, but once the highlights are blown they're gone.
