How do I use GarageBand while opening other apps?

I've just heard you can run GarageBand on iPad 3 while opening other apps at the same time. How do I do this? Thank you

Continue playing after you close GarageBand:

  1. Tap the Song Settings button User uploaded file on the right side of the control bar.

  2. Tap Run in Background.

  3. Tap Run in Background.

  4. To improve performance when running GarageBand in the background with other music apps, turn on “Use with Music Apps.”

When Run in Background is on, GarageBand continues playing after you close it by tapping the Home button, or by double-tapping the Home button and opening another app from the Springboard. If recording is active when you close GarageBand, it also continues. A red bar at the top of the display indicates that GarageBand is continuing to play and record in the background.

If a Touch Instrument is open when you close GarageBand, it continues to respond to MIDI input (such as a connected music keyboard). If an Audio Recorder, Guitar Amp, or Sampler Touch Instrument are open when you close GarageBand, they continue to respond to audio input.

When “Use with Music Apps” is on, you may notice a delay when playing some Touch Instruments.
