How can I reduce number of home pages?
I have way too many home pages and am finding it very hard to organize similar categories of apps into folders. The user. Guide provides no help.
iPad, iOS 6

Press and hold an app and after a second or two they should start to shake. You can then drag one of them (not too quickly) either over and onto another one to create an app folder with those two apps in it, into an existing folder, or you can drag an app and hold it so that it overhangs the left or right edge of the screen - after a second or two the display should then switch to the previous/next screen when you can then position that app on it. Press the home button when you've finished organising them so as to stop them shaking. You can also do it when connected to your computer's iTunes (which some people find easier) : select the iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and you can then use the screen mock-ups on the right-hand side on the Apps tab to re-arrange them (and apply/sync that arrangement when you've finished.
App folders and arranging apps are briefly mentioned in the iPad manual in chapter 3 ('Basics') under 'organising with folders'
You already know the answer. Create folders. There is no other hidden feature or anything else that you can do to reduce the number of home screens.
You can place 20 folders on a screen and 20 apps in a folder. You have eleven screens to work with. It just takes time and patience.
There are many users within this community, not all the replies are going to be constructive or to your liking. Some are to be helpful, but some are here for their own amusement. After awhile you just learn to expect that, but hopefully y in the end you find the answer you are looking for. :)
So you already knew the answer, so I'm not sure what you were looking for. What did King Penguin tell you that you didn't already know?
You still have to create folders and maneuver them around somehow don't you? So what was the big deal? You are still going to have folders aren't you? And you think its easier to do on the small screen of the iPhone?
I don't get it. What were you looking for?
And neither can we. Put more apps into existing folders, delete apps you don't use, etc. Work it out. It's your machine.
Folders I have. They're still scattered over a stupid number of home screens. It's much more controllable on the iPhone than the iPad.
Thanks for the snotty reply.
Thanks for the constructive reply. I'll go the iTunes route. Sure as **** seems more workable than trying to organize things on the iPad itself.
