In December I will buy the new iMac 27". I want to download my MS Word 2007 and JPEG files from my old PC (Windows 7) to the iMac. Will I be able to do that and how?

You could just copy them to a flash drive and move them over.🙂
You will need to have MS Office for Mac installed to open your Word documents. At least version 2008, but the latest version 2011 would be better. Jpeg files can be opened with the preinstalled Preview.
Thanks for the feedback. Could I also use a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1.5 TB and copy all files and download them to the iMac?

Apache OpenOffice, a free, open-source office suite, probably can open your Windows Office documents as well. OpenOffice is easy to find using your favorite search engine.
Sure, but it will be a lot easier to use a flash drive (unless you have lots and lots and lots of data to transfer).
