Check memory leak of notification based app ?

My application is launched by clicking an URL which get the image from url and load it . I am unable to link the app with instruments to determine the memory usage . When i am running the application by instrument , the application is showing blank , as it is not launched by url notification . How to know the memory leak, usage etc .. by instruments of such type of app .
