Any receivers that power on when air play starts?

I need to get a new receiver and I was wondering if anyone knows if there are receivers on the market that will turn themselves on (and hopefully off) when they sense an airplay signal? I have 5 airport express devices and am upgrading my audio devices and this would be a great feature for me.

thanks, Carlos

Yes, if the signal is coming from HDMI. The receiver (VSX1326) responds to my 3-year old Sony TV via HDMI actually. Turns on and off when I power the tv. I assume any newer electronics that support HDMI signal will do the same.

You can switch back and forth with the pioneer app that controls the receiver. Once you take the receiver out of airplay then your apple device will also automatically stop playing.

Airplay has been flawless for me over the year. Your wifi has to be strong and fast of course. Wifi N a no brainer and dual band. That way when you do airplay the startup to send the signal over is a second I stream and then it will go on uninterrupted.

Take note though the was over my AirPort Extreme. Last Friday I switched to a third party wifi router due to a new cable box subscription and it doesn't play nice with airplay. Doesn't also play nice with my apple airport connected. Still looking for a solution. If you use apple airport exclusively as your wifi router, it will work flawlessly.

Thanks, I have a rather complex network (40+ ethernet drops, three switches, Fios router (broadcasting a G network for one part of the house), linksys router (set up as a switch creating another G network for the 2nd and 3rd floors)with most of my devices connected via ethernet. Of course the location where I want a new receiver is the one place I don't have ethernet. Current airport express connects to that Linksys network and in turn connects to the AppleTV via ethernet.

I'll take a look at the Pioneer. Do you know if any Denon units have this capability?

Yes Denon has their own airplay product line. Since its airplay certified then it should work the same.

I honestly don't recommend lower than N to stream. Huger but files will lag and may create a pause. I have Ethernet on the pioneer connected to a Cisco switch. Then airplay via wireless from iPhone or wired via MacBook.

I would suggest getting a power line adapter instead to expan your LAN if your circuit allows it.
