Apple Tracking # Won't Work on UPS Site

My status on the Apple site stated that my iPad has been shipped on the 27th

They have given me a tracking number that didn't work with UPS.

I contacted UPS, they said the number Apple gave me was more like a 'reference number' as

tracking numbers start with 1Z and are 18 digits long.


Can anyone advise, would be much appreciated.

Maybe you are not interpreting the terms used correctly. Maybe the item was marked shipped by the manufacturer when the item was sent to the loading dock at the factory. Then maybe the shipping (to USP/FedEx, etc.) labbel was created. Then maybe you will see a Picked Up By UPS, etc., Then maybe you will see At some depot, etc.


Why are you so worried? They ship millions of items which appear to get to purchasers on or before the date promised.
