2560x1600 external monitor performance

I have a late 2008 macbook (2.0ghz core 2 duo, 5gb ram, nvidia geforce 9400M 256MB)

I also have a 30" monitor running at 2560x1600 connected to it. The peformance of the system with the external monitor is quite slow (scrolling, launchpad, mission control, youtube).

How well will it run on the Intel 3000 HD or 4000 HD?

What do I need to be able to full screen 1080p video on the 30" and get smooth performance.

Alan - I believe your Dell (like mine) has a display port out. You can get a cable that has a display port on one end and a mini display port on the other (which plugs into the Thunderbold jack on the mini). Remember to go to the Dell menu to tell it you will be using the display port output (some forget this step!) and your mini will use the higher resolution. I bought this cable from amazon and it worked like a charm (no local retailer carried one):

Best of luck!
