Question

Unable to find printer driver in 'software update'

Have new MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion and want to use an Epson PX710W printer wirelessly.

However I have not been able to find the appropriate printer driver in 'Software update'.

I have looked at several Epson pages and have confirmed that this printer is compatible, but as yet have no driver.

One page tells me to connect the printer, then run software update. Another form says run software update first.

I have tried both ways.

Can anyone please assist?

The printer has to be connected via USB and powered on. Then you add the printer via System Preferences, that will kick off the download of the latest driver.

I don't see your printer listed as one that has drivers available through Apple.

Maybe I missed it, though.

I have the printer on and connected to my macBook, but there is no printer listed in the Print and Scan pane.

On the support.apple page you mentioned, the printer is listed near the bottom, using version 9.0.

Also, are you sure that the driver found under the google search, is for use with Mountain Lion?

Is seems to be dated 2009.

The Epson Support document for Mountain Lion clearly states thet the driver is ava

ilable from Apple Software Update.

Hi,

Ensure the printer is turned on, in ready state and connected to your Mac.

Reboot the Mac and try adding the printer again.

If that still fails, manually install the drivers package below, then try adding the printer under Print & Scan again:
