I have many duplicates of my calendars in iCal. How do I, or what do I do to ensure that only one set of calendars syncs?

I just got a new iPhone 5 and a new laptop that I am wanting to sync. It seems like everytime I sync with iCal I get more duplicate calendars. I use iCloud and I'm assuming I didn't configure something right. Can someone help?

MacBook, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Follow the troubleshooting steps listed in iCloud: Resolving duplicate calendars after setting up your calendar application for iCloud Calendar.

Let us know what happens.
