Has iOS 6.0.1 fixed the previous bugs? Requesting information.

Hello Apple Users,

As most of you know, the iOS 6 update has brought many problems for 4th generation iPod Touch users including but not limited to: Appstore crashes, app crashes, Wi-Fi problems, Music problems, iMessage failure, FaceTime failure, missing apps, and more.

I have been waiting for iOS 6.0.1 to come out and address these problems.

Now the next update has finally come out, even though it seems to be targeted to fix the newer devices rather than the 4th generation iPod Touch and older.

I have now updated, but I am unsure what is possibly fixed or what is not. I did not have most of the issues that most of the other users had, so I can't say whether this update helps with those problems at all.

I am looking for what bugs may have been fixed with iOS 6.0.1 that were caused by iOS 6.0.0, so I would be able to see what bugs I would encounter if I were to upgrade from iOS 5 to iOS 6

I would appreciate it if everyone who has updated to iOS 6.0.1 on a 4th generation iPod Touch could post their knowledge about this update and what it fixed in this thread.

Questions to answer:

1.Are any of the problems you had when you upgraded to iOS 6 fixed after the iOS 6.0.1 update?

2.Did you discover any new problems with iOS 6.0.1 in addition to the problems of iOS 6.0.0?

3.Did you have any of the problems mentioned above or that any other iOS 6 user has encountered after upgrading straight from iOS 5 to 6.0.1?

4.What other information about the iOS 6.0.1 update can you provide?

Thank you,

Hi, I'm using iPad 3 and iPhone 4, but since most of the reported issues seem to occur on all devices running iOS 6.0.0 in general I keep you posted anyway.

1. So far at least some problems seem to be solved. FB is running again (however - might be that my problems yesterday werde caused by FB on the server side), searching for apps in AppStore on iPad does work again, but only if there is an iPad app corresponding to the search term. If there isn't switching to "iPhone apps" returns the no-results-message either, although there actually *are* results. Can't tell you something about stability right now, obviously.

2. Not yet.

3. AppStore crashes, app crashes, AppStore "blank pages" (mostly iPad, iPhone slightly better). Sometimes "erratic" battery behaviour (both devices). In most cases the issues could have been temporarily fixed through reboot of the affected device. That led me to reboot my devices once or twice in two days, before iOS 6 I did so only about oce in a week or fortnight, and this just for "maintenance reasons" without really needing to.

4. Nothing so far.

I had a similar problem when updating ios6 the play rewind and forward buttons wouldn't work when it was in locked screen but the volume did. I turned my phone off and back on and it worked again for some reason??? I've still got bad battery and 3G since updating a 4s to ios6 though it was good before .

My main thing was the App Store crash and apps closing or crashing in the background. The App Store crash seems to be fixed but the apps still close in the background. That's very problematic if its an instant messenger app like yahoo messenger ir IM +, cause you them to remain open in the background if you need a notification when a person messages you. It definitely started with 6.0 and hasn't been fixed with 6.0.1. Worst excuse for a device enhancement as far as I'm concerned. One of the main reason I ought the iPod 4th G was for staying connected with friends through Yahoo Messenger and IM+. You can still use it but don't do anything else on the device like safari, Facebook or any thing that uses system resources cause it will always close the app in the background to probably preserve memory.

6.0 wasn't an update to the iPod 4th G but a downgrade.

The 6.0 crippled the wifi on my ipod touch 4g. I couldn't even access the app store. I know it was the update because everything was fine until right after. I tried ALL of Apple's online recommendations but nothing worked. I got excited when I saw the 6.0.1 update but it had very little effect. I'm able to gain access to the internet, app store or Netflix - at the 3 minute mark it freezes and won't come back until a hard reset - then, 3minutes later wifi freezes again. I am so frustrated! Why don't they let you downgrade in Itunes until they come up with a solution? I tried the trick with holding shift while clicking restore and chosing 5.1 but I get an error. Why did you do the Apple?...

I have been dissapointed with Apple when they release new software. iOS 5 was really buggy on the iPod Touch 4G and iOS 6 isn't quite as bad, but still isn't as good as it should've been. Now, we are going to have to wait until iOS 6.1 which will probably come out in a few months. I hope they fix these issues before then, but I'm not counting on it.

Nothing like disappearing videos or music happened to my ipod touch 4th G. Also it is a major improvement when it comes to scrolling and the sticking thing it had with the 5.0 version where it would move very slow that is seemed like it was sticking and not moving when trying to move from one thing to another. All that is gone so credit to them on that. But most importantly the apps closing in the background is a real issue, I don't want my apps like Yahoo Messenger or IM + closing in the background when I'm signed in to my account and expecting friends to message me.

Restored my Iphone 4S and upgraded to 6.0.1. AppStore crashes. YM closes on its own. All my apps were working fine prior to ios 6.0.1 update. now everything is messed up. Sometimes 4S reboots by itself. battery drains sooo fast even if my settings are: lowest for brightness; off wifi and bluetooth; screen lock in 2minutes. personal hotspot disabled. it seems that Apple does not have QA dept to test their software. Lousy update!
