what if this doesnt work

What if holding the lock button and the homebutton at the same time doesn't work i'm trying to fix my 17 year old sisters ipod touch 1st generation at least i think its 1st generation?? she forgot her passcode and has 6609309 minutes left and i want her to have a good birthday with her ipod can you help?!?!? anyway right back?!?!
