I am locked out to my imac
I cannot get into the system. When I type in my password, ir is not accepted

What is your operating system version? I assume you are using 10.5.8 or earlier since you are using a G5. The usual method is:
Resolution
- Start up from your Mac OS X Install DVD.
- From the Utilities menu, choose Reset Password....
- Reset the password for the affected account(s).
The Reset Password option may be under a different menu for older versions of OS X like Tiger or Panther.
