@me = @icloud.com ?

I'm a little confuse about @me and @icloud.com. Are they the same apple ID?

Say I have an apple ID as abc123@me.com and it said that I can also be reached from abc123@icloud.com.

Does this mean abc123@me.com = abc123@icloud.com?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
