iOS 6.0.1 update failed. iPhone 5 not responding! Need a fix

I am very unhappy about this. I plugged my iPhone 5 into iTunes for iOS 6.0.1 update. Update failed. Got the following error: "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (-1)." It recommended restoring the iphone. I did. Restore failed and I got the same error message!

I am so tired of having to spend my valuable time trying to fix Apple's tech malfunctions. Seem to be happening more and more lately. Anyway, how do I fix this? I really need my phone back now.

I updated mine over the air too. It was working right after update. But when I used it a little while after, it was off. Turning it on shows blinking Apple logo every five seconds or so.

Downloaded the 6.0.1 ipsw via iTunes and restoring failed on four different mac and windows laptops. Error 2001 / 21

Brought to a geek friend and she pointed out the ipsw iTunes downloaded for my GSM iPhone 5 is actually for a CDMA version. That is iPhone5,2_6.0.1_10A525_Restore.ipsw.

She's gonna download the iPhone5,1_xxx, supposed to be for GSM version.

Will update if it works out. Hope it does.

Nope, didn't work.

Sending back to Apple, after 5 (or less?) happy days with it.
