how do I find my password after....

We had our hard drive replaced yesterday due to some Apple recall, or other issue. After rebooting, etc, I cannot log in. I have tried every imaginable password we've ever had that I can think of, & nothing's working. How can I get logged in? It's now useless! Ugh.
