iOS 6.0.1 thinks all calendar events are invitations

This is rediculas. I am having the same problem. Calendar has consistently given me problems since iPhone 5/iOS 6. We shouldn't have to "fallback" on "Gmail Calendar" as a workaround instead of using Exchange Activestink. Plus, when you configure iOS to use Exchange, you can't invite people to events from your iPhone calendar anymore, you have to log on to Gmail Cal to do it.

I have had myriad problems since the new phone came out. Firstly, my main Google Calendar appointments randomly decided not to showing in my calendar (although secondary calendar events did). When I deleted the Exchange account from the phone and re-installed it (in an attempt to fix the problem), now all my events are showing up as invitations to myself.

Guys, this is ridiculass and for an $800 product used by millions of people, why do we put up with this. Can someone give me a fix.

I was having the same issue - I had my email set up with the regular Gmail option and my calendars set up through Microsoft Exchange. I just deleted the Exchange and selected calendars in my Gmail and it seems to be working perfectly! I hope this helps! 🙂

Ya, using Gmail CAL instead of Google Exchange works for me too, but, I shouldn't have to resort to that as a workaround.

Not to mention, invitations can't be issued from the iphone any more when you used that method!

I have the same problem with a shared google calendar synced via Exchange option for my family. When somebody else enters a new entry in the calendar I can only select Accept, Decline or Maybe. I am lacking the Edit button which used to be there before I updated to iOS 6.0.1.

I tried to change to the Gmail sync option as suggested by @shoegal321 et al. But the problem with that option is that syncing Contacts is not supported, only Mail, Calendar and ToDo.

So I need to use the Exchange Sync option for my Google Account.

Is there any fix for this to expect from Apple?

I am seeing this exact same issue that everyone else is with Google calendar. I have two calendars set up with google that sync with a Microsoft Exchange account set up on iOS. After setting up the exchange account you go to m.google.com/sync from your safari browser, then click on the device you want to set up and tell it which calendars to sync.

This has been working fine for well over a year untilt he other day when iOS 6.0.1 came out which had a fix in it for MS Exchange customers where they were having trouble with inviations. Problem appears to be that whatever they fixed there for true MS Exchange users has now messed up those that are using google and an exchange account to sync other calendars.

What I have found is that everything appears normal if you only have read persmissions for the Google calendar that is syncing with your iOS device via an Exchange account. However if you have modify permissions for that calendar then all events from that calendar show up as invitations. This wouldn't be so bad if I could still edit the event becuase I just simply would not do anything with the invitation in regards to selecting 'maybe', 'accept', 'decline'. But the edit button is gone from the upper left hand corner of my screen so i can not edit the event either. But either way you look at it the event is still showing up as an event instead of as an event.

I can also tell this happened exactly at the time iOS 6.0.1 was released because all appointments entered before the install of 6.0.1 still show up as events with my synced calendars and I can still edit them. Anything that was entered to google calendar after the upgrade shows up as an invite.

Apple please fix this quickly.

Update: I would stronly urge everyone to get on Apple real quick about this. Not sure if they know about it or not. I plan on calling them as well but also you can post feedback at www.apple.com/feedback. It is fairly easy to do besides typing your problem but if you are a fast typer then it shouldn't be an issue. Anyway just my thoughts on getting this fixed because right now it is a real pain.

I'm having the same issue, and I've noticed a few things...

• Events created on my Main Calendar show as they should, and do NOT have invitation requests associated.
• If the calendar event is created on an iOS device, the event shows as it should, but if it is created on the Google Calendar website, the event is pushed as an invitation.
• Prior to iOS v6.0/6.0.1, this did not happen.

I thought I was the only one for a while. Have been searching for a fix for this since the iOS upgrade. I am having exactly the same issues. Have searched the new but can't find any simple and obvious fixes. Will feedback to both apple and google in the hope they notice us out here with the problem.

I am having the exact same issue. I share Google calendars with my kids and each of their calendars is set up to allow me to "Make Changes and Manage Sharing." Recently I noticed that if I add a Google calendar entry to either my iPhone 4S or directly on my Google calendar from the Web it creates it as an inviation and I'm not longer seeing the "Edit" button. I do notice when viewing the entry on the Web it does NOT show up as an invitation and I can delete, edit, etc. as normal and that entry syncs properly on my iPhone despite the entry on the iPhone calendar still showing up as an invite even after editing on the Google calendar on the web.

Here is the solution with a price to pay:

Assuming you are syncing your CONTACT, CALENDAR and GMAIL.....

1) Go to SETTINGS > MAILS, CONTACTS, CALENDARS >> ACCOUNTS,

For CONTACT, setup your account using Microsoft Exchange option.

For GMAIL and CALENDAR, setup your account using Gmail option.

By doing this, events will no longer be treated as invitations making edit/delete possible in multiple devices.

The price to pay is.....

1) Invitations will not work anymore. You won't see the INVITEES field when creating an event.

- I don't care about this. I never invite people and people never invite me!

2) The calendar will use PULL instead of PUSH. So updates will not be immediate. But you can update the calendar manually using the REFRESH icon under the "CALENDAR" button.

The option of setting up a gmail account is not an option when you are syncing multiple calendars on one gmail account. When setting up a gmail account under the gmail tab in accounts it will only sync your calendar with the calendars on the iPhone. Everyone who is having a problem since 6.0.1 uses exchange to get their gmail calendar because using it and setting up your settings at m.google.com/sync is the only way to bring over all the calendars you sync with your gmail account.

So unless I'm missing something which I'm pretty sure I'm not that is not an option for everyone here because in summary just setting up your gmail account to sync calendars will not bring any of your synced calendars to your iOS device. Just your calendar that is associated with your gmail account.

I apologize. I stand corrected. I see where it will now sync all calendars associated with a gmail account that is set up under the gmail tab on an iOS device. I didn't want to mess anything up so I went to my calendar then to the calendar tab. Turned off all the calendars syncing with the exchange account. Went from there to home screen, settings, mail/accounts/calendars, then to my gmail account and turned calendars on. Then went back to the calendar app then to the calendars tab and all my calendars showed up under gmail now and show up correctly in the calendar now with the ability to edit.

mrlawrencelam, Again sorry for my quick post. Should have checked it out first. I have a couple questions though. I swear in the past setting up a google account and turning on calendars only showed your calendar. So why didn't apple let everyone know that now you can see all of them? Next question why would one have to hit the refresh button that is located in the calendars tab when in the calendar app? The calendars refresh when you launch the app don't they? At least everytime I launch my calendar app starts refreshing data. It's too late to mess with tonight but I will test it tomorrow. I would think that it will still refresh on its own. Just not through push. So u won't see changes made via the web or from another authorized person until you launch the app. Does that sound correct to you?

I tried to read your reply a few times but I am not sure whether I got your ponts fully.

Here is my case:

I sync all my contacts, calendars and Gmail to my iPhone and iPad. I use multiple Google calendars.

Whether I set up an account with the MS Exchange or Gmail tab, I can turn on/off the calendar sync. So in m case I turn on the calendar sync for Gmail account and turn off for the one created using MS Exchange.

The syncing is working fine in both devices and can edit/delete both ways.
