iPhone 4 won't turn on, won't connect to itunes?

Hello!

I have the iPhone 4 (not 4S). A couple hours ago, as I tried to istall the new 6.0.1 Software, it completely shut down. When i power it on (with top button) it comes up with a picture of a usb cord and an arrow to iTunes, which i assume means connect to itunes. So i connected it to itunes, but it will not let me access ANYTHING on the phone. no music, photos, apps, anything. the only thing i can do with my phone is restore it to factory settings (which I will NOT do). I will be geting a new phone probably tomorrow, but I had a few questions:

1) Will my apps be transferred?

2) If so, will the data in the apps (like game results, etc) be kept?

3) Will my contacts be saved?
