My iphone started activating iMessage on its own. It happened when i went into the message app, and then 'iMessage' showed up. And now i cant even send SMS to any of my contacts at all, only those with iMessage on. It just started doing this. Any solutions?
I dont want iMessage at all, i just want to send SMS.

I had a similar issue when i switched to a new iPhone with a new carrier. First, go into your Settings > Messages. Turn off IMessage. Next, go into Settings > FaceTime. Sign out of Apple ID for Facetime. Restart phone using Power Button + Home Button (hold). P Go back to your Settings. Select Cellular > Cellular Data Option > Select "Enable LTE". Now, you can either turn off or change to Data Only. I was able to start sending both IMessages and SMS when selecting the Data Only option, but you may or may not have to turn off completely. Hope this helps.

Settings, Messages, Turn iMessage off. iMessages are only sent to those individuals that have iOS 5 or greater. If you have SMS provisioned on your account, anyone that does not have iOS 5 or above will be sent an SMS. The iPhone would not attempt to send an iMessage to someone that does not have iOS.
Thats the problem, i cannot turn iMessage off. If i do, when i launch messages, the iMessage Start-Up screen will appear, hence it wont give me the chance to even send texts to my non-user iphone friends or family members.
Have you tried to do a reset on the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. Even with iMessage on, you should not have any difficulty in sending an SMS, unless there is a problem with SMS on the carrier side.
Doing that now, and i dont think its the carrier due to the fact this happened within a week ago and im currently 1/4 way of my Contract.
Other words, this started happening months after i upgraded my Contract
I've just done the reset, and this popped up...
"iMessage
Your carrier may charge for SMS messages used to activate iMessage"
Where are you located? What carrier are you using? Do you have SMS on your account? It sounds as if you are outside of the US, not sure though, but that could have generated that message. Just because you are still in contract does not mean there couldn't be a problem with your account. Things happen, and it doesn't hurt to have them check that if there is a problem with SMS. But we need to try and figure out why you are not able to turn iMessage off/on correctly. But, with it off, there should not be an issue with you sending regular SMS. Is Facetime turned on, if so try and turn that off as well, at least for right now so we can try and get the SMS problem fixed.
I dont have FaceTime and my carrier is Talk-Mobile. Also, yes i am outside US due to the fact UK wont let me sign up without having to give Debit/Credit card details (which i dont have, im only 15 hehehehehe).
EDIT: Yes, i do have SMS. Thats the only way i send messages in the first place before this iMessage disturbed my messaging.
Okay, is this Talk-Mobile a supported carrier for the iPhone? Facetime is part of the iOS, unless your device is from one of the Middle East countries that ban it. You should be able to see Facetime in Settings. Is this an unlocked device, or is it jailbroken?
uhhhh im not sure about the carrier part, tho im pretty certain it is. This Device is from the Uk, and i am not able to access FaceTime in settings due to the fact i havent downloaded it :3
You do not have to download Facetime, as I said before it is part of the iOS for the phone. I guess I might need to ask, is this an iPhone, or an iPod Touch? Some of this is starting to get inconsistent with iPhone settings.

Okay, that answers the Facetime question. You didn't answer if the device is unlocked or jailbroken.
Oh, Jailbroken. Is that why this is happening? Cuz ive had mine Jailbroken for a long period of time now
Probably, and because it is jailbroken, we cannot discuss any further. It is against the TOS of the forum and voids warranty service, etc. I knew there had to be something else going on. Sorry, but you will have to see if those individuals that jailbroke the phone will fix it for you.
