Bootcamp support for windows 8?

I've failed several times getting all the drivers to work with the now released version of windows 8 pro. Is there any apple support coming for windows 8 with bootcamp? If so, when, or is there currently work arounds that support all the drivers (thunderbolt, display, etc.)

Thanks,

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Wow, trying not to respond my thoughts here. Some pretty wound tight people on this thread.

I'll wait patiently now to see when and if Apple releases windows 8 support.

What do you mean? You got good answers from Kappy, Ewen, and me. You got links to the help files that explain which Windows are supported. You got a quote from one of the help files that says Windows 7 is supported. You got a link to the Bootcamp forums where your question is the subject of many discussions. You asked your question as though asking Apple and you were informed that Apple does not participate here. And you were told straight out that Windows 8 is not supported.

What did you not receive that you expected? What prompted you to say that we are wound up tight? I think your question was answered in a straight forward way and it was answered very well.

Hi Bob,

Your answer was very helpful and not wound tight at all. Maybe I'm reading between the lines too much, but just to explain a little, I read the comment:

"If you read the linked doc you would note..."

I interpret that as "you lazy ... if you read the ...".

I read the comment: "If that's a problem for you then install Windows 7 until support is available." as unresponsive and some what condescending. Of course I know bootcamp works with windows 7. Is it really possible the author of the comment thought I did not know bootcamp works with windows 7?

I read the post with a bunch of links as not very useful because the "recollection" was misleading and in the case not correct so I have to assume the links are just a bunch I have already found from google.

I almost did not respond to you question about what is in this thread that prompted my comment, but it sounds like you are sincerely asking what bothered me.

Thanks again for your answer and conerns.

Sometimes links or answers such as you received can be interpreted how you interpreted them. But I think you were really given the best answers possible. For example instead of just saying no you can't install Windows 8, you were provided rationale, through the links, and alternatives by the suggestion that if you didn't want to try Windows 8 that you could still revert to installing Windows 7. Then to shore up the answers provided I suggested you go to the Bootcamp forum, hopefully to read about the successes and failures of those who have tried to install Windows 8.

Sorry you got the impression you did.

SPECIFIC TO YOUR QUESTION

NO, I have not used the BELKIN thunderbolt extender. I am using a USPEED 7-port USB 3.0 hub. I have used it for about one year and I do not have a complaint that can be* lodged against the device. Perhaps you can get 2 7-port USPEED hubs.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT

*When my MacBook Pro Retina sleeps, it seems that my external disks on this hub get slammed. I get the DISK NOT DISCONNECTED PROPERLY message. I think that is an Apple OS X insufficiency, which remains uncorrected even in Yosemite. I did not experience this in Windows 7 before I switched to Mountain Lion.

In addition to that I now constantly lose my Bluetooth Apple mouse under Yosemite.
