I have the iphone 5 with iOS 6.01. I wanted to ask which is the best way (cleanest way to wipe the device), so I can attempt to improve battery life?

I read this article before and do keep all optimal settings. I was asking for the best way (cleanest way) to start over. Some say to use settings erase all data, or use iTunes to restore. Can someone please tell me step by step the best way to start fresh?
Plug into your computer and tell iTunes to do a full restore on the phone.
