My Iphone 4S keeps crashing...

I've had it since July 2012 and it has completely crashed 6 times total now. It happens at random, it will go black then the plug into itunes and recover mode pops up. Is anyone else having this issue? I've already taken it to an Apple store and they said nothing was wrong with it. I had an ipod touch that acted similar except it would always freeze up. To tell you the truth, I'm starting to lose faith in all Apple products. I want a refund, I shouldn't have to pay out the *** for a phone that will leave me stranded all the time.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.0.1

Those are features of faulty battery. Battery problems can occur anywhere in the discharge cycle so are difficult to detect, when it is before of after the bad portions. The iPhone still has full Warranty, your only hope is to find an Apple Genius that will help you. Did they (Apple) perform a battery diagnostic test? If not that could help make your case.

The last time I had to drive 2 hours to the closest Apple store for them to even restore my phone. That's all they did when I took it in. If I didn't live so far away from an Apple store I would have them run a battery diagnostics test. I did spend 2.5 hours on the phone with Apple support the first time this happened and they couldn't fix it. But thank you for your help.

I don't believe this is accurate. It sounds more like a severe software/firmware issue than a bad battery.

I recommend going through the right troubleshooting steps to help resolve this problem. Then if you do, you'll be able to narrow down what's causing it and then address this problem once and for all.

It boils down into three steps.

1. a) Backup your iPhone b) Restore iOS software b) restore the backup.

If the issue persists...

2. Read this article on how to setup your iPhone as a new device.

If the issue persists...

3. Replace the iPhone with Apple. If you're covered by warranty, they can do this remotely by mail to avoid the long drive at no cost. You'll have to call in to speak to them about that though. You can check your coverage on this page. Even if you're not covered, remote support is still available at a cost.

Hope this helps.

The only issue is it's kind of hard to backup an iphone that is stuck in recovery mode after it has crashed. I've been trying for the past 12 hours to restore the phone but apparently there is always an error part way through the restore. Every time it has crashed I restore it, lose everything, and it's good for about a week and out of no where it just crashes. I've done all of the troubleshooting the site has to offer, spent 2.5 hours on the phone with Apple support who couldn't help me, and I'm just tired of this phone. What do people do who don't have internet access 24/7 and their iphones crash? It's just ridiculous.
