"Error Code 25974 was returned by the CoreAudio Driver" HELP

hi, i have a mac G4 powerbook 512 ram, 60g hard drive, 1.5 Ghz processor and i'm running garage band. i'm trying to do some recording with a Tascam US-122 USB audio/midi interface. and first of all! i'm a little confused as to get the sound to go through to my computer, it can't possibly just travel through the USB ... can it? and when i try to record or play pretty much ANYTHING in garage band (even without the interface) i get this error. and no sounds play over the speakers when garage band is open... it's freaking frusterating! can you help?

Yes, that's how a digital interface works. It converts the analogue signal to digital and sends it across the USB bus.

As to your error, I've never seen it and was unable to find it in any of my references. Typical things to try:

o Repair permissions

o log out and back in.

o Try logging in as a new User

o Search your hard drive for "GarageBand" and delete the ".plist" and ".cs" files

Let us know if any of these things help.

Hi Amber, the Tascam US-122 is digitizing the audio signal and then sending it through the USB cable. This is a good thing 🙂

As for your error, have you downloaded the latest drivers from the Tascam website? Once you do that and BEFORE you install the new driver, check to see if there is a uninstall feature that comes with the new driver. If there is, then run it FIRST, then reboot, then install the new driver.

well, my new status is that i've got sound coming from the tascam, i can get it to go through the speakers in my stereo and through the headphones, but i can't get my computer to hear it- i've got all the right settings and as far as i know, all the right connections, but my computer just can't hear it. and the only way i can get sound out of this thing is to have it on direct recording---should it be that way?
