iPad mini won't automatically connect to wifi

I've got a new iPad mini that is refusing to automatically connect to my home wifi network. I have to do it manually each time. However when I took it into the apple shop today it automatically connected to their network. I have a netgear router and the iPad is running iOS6 which seems to have caused problems for a lot of iPhone and iPad users - should I try downgrading the firmware? Anyone else with this problem?

If you have been on that forum for a while, like me. You would notice, that after new device or new software comes, there thousands of people with wi fi problems. I leave that one up to you and other smart people, since apple router is not my forte. Logic is telling me, thou, that if your ipad had no problem on other network, antenna problem is not the issue. The argument that other devices had no problems, is born from incomplete understanding of router's work load.

Not that I have one, just good enough to change some settings.

Did "she" also lose connection on another network?

You don't have to answer, you are way more then, smart enough to get my point.

You r just unhappy with what I am telling you right now. You think - "why that stupid

guy is telling me those things", "he does not know half of what I know, especially after

troubleshooting I have done". Let's hope that you lucky with replacement.

No, I am just wondering why your whole tone is so snarky. You neither make me happy or unhappy. I joined this forum to gain and offer about Apple troubleshooting. The iPad did have connection problems with other networks. As in not automatically reconnecting to a known network. And speed problems. I will leave the expert advice and final work to Apple. Of course, I hope the new iPad works on my network. If not Apple is keeping in contact with me to continue troubleshooting my network problem in not only the effort to help me, but to understand this device and the problems it is having that are of a same/similar nature.

That is what I red in your first post:

"Part of our diagnostics included my taking the mini to work to log into that network--no problem."

That is what I got from last one:

"The iPad did have connection problems with other networks."

Then I red my post trying to find "snarky" and didn't find anything.

Then looked in yours:

"I think that eventually we are going to see Apple admitting to an antenna problem with this batch of minis."

Then I remembered that:

" We checked for interference within the home and from the 10 routers sending signals in my neighborhood to see if the bandwidth was being compromised"

Sorry, I actually took you seriously before.

I was having same issue but my ssid was not Netgear but linksys. I too renamed the ssid to something different and now ipad mini connects automatically. I did go back and changed the ssid back to linksys and sure enough the ipad would NOT reconnect without me putting the password again. So I have changed the ssid to a non linksys name and it connected automatically without the password.

Pretty strange as I had no issues with iPhone 4 or iPhone 5. Both are running iOS 6.0.2

I have a theory on this.....

I was having the same problem with my mini, and oddly, only my mini. (I also have two 3s and an iPhone 4).

My network name was not something common like Netgear or Linksys, but I "did" use the same SSID at two different locations. I'm thinking if the iPad mini has connected to two different networks with the same name, it gets confused and has trouble connecting or staying connected.

Netgear and Linksys are pretty common names (the defaults when you buy these routers), so it's not unlikely your iPad has connected to a network with that name before.

No proof of this, it's just a theory based on observation.

Cheers!
