Can't launch Image Capture anymore from my Lexmark X3650

After deleting my Lexmark X3650, downloading the latest version of the Lexmark drivers and reinstalling this printer/scanner, I still can't launch Image Capture from my Lexmark. Bfore installing Mountain Lion, this was still working.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

1. Try to reset the Printing System first, steps here: http://bit.ly/TeaJzV

2. Then remove the Lexmark files manually:

  • HD > Library > Printers > Lexmark > 2008 > Lexmark 3600 Series (Drag this folder to the trash).
  • Also, check this article on how to remove the other files: http://bit.ly/YLYgc3

3. Download an updated driver here: http://bit.ly/YLZggf

4. Also, try to check for any software updates from Apple for your Lexmark printer.

After performing all your suggested steps (as far as I could), the same issue occurs.

Printing is fine, although it works different (compared to Lion).

Scanning is still not possible from the Lexmark itself.

After launching Image Capture, my scanner is under Devices at the left side, but it does not show the name I have specified (just the generic "LEXMARK 3600-4600 SERIES".

Thanks again!

After repairing disk permissions, the problem is still not solved.

This is the requested screenshot after launching Image Capture:

And this one after clicking on the Lexmark under devices: (I had to enlarge the left column before doing so.)

By the way: Last night, I received an update from Apple for the Lexmark printers (2.10), but even that didn't cure it.

Today, I tried to delete the preference files, reset the printing system, reinstalled both printers and restarted the computer, but that didn't change it either.

Awesome that you still put so much time and energy to sort this ouut!

Right, Apple recently released a software update for the printer and scanner.

It looks like your computer is able to communicate with the scanner since you're able to get to the point where you choose the area to scan. What happens when you click on Scan or Overview? Does it show a progress bar?

By the way, the Lexmark S300-S400 scanner found under Shared Devices, is that connected to the same network that you're connected to? If so, are you able to scan from it?

Yeah, but the new release didn't change anything in my situation.

Yes, it shows a progress bar and it inputs a document, right. My point is that I used to launch Image Capture from the Lexmark itself; which is no longer possible.

Also the printer dialog has changed (simplified), but that's not an issue for me.

The Lexmark S300-S400 is my wife's printer/scanner; operating via WiFi. It is possible to scan from that device, although it imports the document to my wife's laptop. Her system is still running Snow Leopard rather than Mountain Lion.

Hope this is clear enough for you.

Cheers again,
