Yes. Apple will do an out of warranty exchange for the prices indicated on this page: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/

Otherwise, you can also opt to send it to a third party repair service who will actually replace the damaged screen for a little less. Google for "iPod Touch screen repair" and you should get a number of results to search through.

A cracked iPod screen can most definitely be fixed. Prices generally vary based on the model (generation) of your device. Also, "screen" can be defined as the outer glass or the inner LCD display. For some Apple devices, these are totally seperate components and pricing would depend on which component requiring replacement. As for repair options, Apple offers a great service as well as many qualified Third-Party repair vendors. You'll find that prices amongst repair sites differ due to the quality of parts, level of professionalism, duration of warranty period, etc. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! After following steps 1-3, I elected to choose step 4 and fix it myself. The whole process was a breeze, but I carefully prepared by watching tutorials and instructional videos. By the time I was ready to open up my iPod, I was already familiar with the internal workings of the gadget and what to expect. As for the parts, I selected a trusted supplier (irepair.com) and everything went super-smooth. The parts arrived fast and seem to be of excellent quality. Thanks as always, Apple forums!
