Apple Support Communities - Part 1

Does anyone have an email address for the hosts of this forum.

A number of emails over recent weeks have not been responded to?

[Part 2, which will be quite revealing, may have to follow!]

It was ****** which they have edited out and, presumably, will edit out again. It is the address at which we exchanged emails up until a certain date.

Sadly, they are much quicker at editing posts than replying to emails. One would have thought that upon editing the post they might have identified and emailed me in an attempt to resolve the situation in order to prevent further embarrassment. But no!

They can edit the post, delete the thread in its entirety if they so wish, or even block me from posting.

I doubt there is anything secret about the email address. It is generally regarded as bad practice to post emails in forums because of the risk of generating spam. Here, as at many other places, mods will remove them if they see them.

Do you have a question to ask about the working of these forums or are you just here to make obtuse threats to Apple? If the former perhaps you would ask it.

Hosts: Thank you for the editing at my request.

Romad: You might be confused but I am not. I have no problem with the ToU. I was simply drawing the compasrison between the quickness to act in one circumstance and their failure in the other.

etresoft: The only interest I requested of you (and others) was if you knew of an alternative email address.

Niel:I have right before my eyes all the emails welcoming me to the next level and our exhange of correspondence. Strange that all these emanating from the community hosts have exactly the same email address and that my earlier replies to these were responded to!

Which would be a good reason why they would not want them posted in the forum. And if you already had an email address, and the hosts were no longer responding, that should tell you a lot. So what was the point of asking for another email address? You wanted to be ignored in two places?

Alan, from your tone, you are obviously having a disagreement with the hosts about something, and they have chosen to stop responding to your private e-mails. The hosts will listen to reasonable requests, but beyond that, they are the law. Pushing the issue of a disagreement here is a violation of the terms of use, and will get your posts edited or removed, and if continued, could earn you a temporary (or even permanent) ban. I would strongly advise that you take a few days away from these forums, cool down a bit and then drop the issue when you come back.

I think you are putting too much faith into email as a communication medium. I have had some email correspondence with the hosts related to things like conference calls (which haven't happened in a long time) and meetups. Even then email is used as a one-way flow of information. They rarely, if ever, respond. If they do, it takes several days. They are likely swamped with email. Sending them new email is a good way of not getting noticed. If your question can be discussed in public post it here. If you have a private issue, post a note requesting the hosts contact you. They will, but you will have to be patient.

I am not too sure in what way your post was edited. Parts of it are difficult to understand and others at odds with the suggestions of fellow posters! The idea of my getting another email address was in the hope that it may have been of a supervisor or other person who was in a position to see that a reply, whatever the nature of it, was given. Forgive me if I have interpreted some of your comments wrongly, but sInce you are in possession of very few facts then it is surely wrong of you to be judgmental as to why I have not obtained replies. If you ever get a chance to read the report which I refer to at the end of this post then I suspect your position might change dramatically.

I am not having a disagreement with the hosts! However, I do have a grievance that they have not responded to an email in early September despite it not being expedited until a very reasonable 18 days later. I could understand if we were involved in some stalemate situation and I began to pester them. This is not the case. Indeed, this quote of theirs surely speaks for itself – ‘I understand your concern.... but am not at liberty to share more than we are working on ways to improve.’ I would add two things: 1. I have never asked the hosts to disclose anything, and 2. They made one or two useful improvements to the workings of the forum which were largely in keeping with some suggestions I made.

Why do you suggest I stay away from the forum for a time, come back and forget about it? I have a legitimate grievance and anyone in that position surely has the right of access to see that it is properly addressed. My concerns, outside of their failure/refusal to give me the courtesy of even one reply, affect not just me but yourself and many other participants. Does this, another quote of theirs, not ring hollow? – ‘We appreciate your contributions and all the assistance you provide to your fellow users. It is through the assistance from you that Apple Support Communities continues to succeed’.

I have even gone down the unusual route of reporting abuse against myself in this thread to make absolutely sure that the hosts are without excuse. In one sense I might as well not have bothered.

In addition to all the options open to me as previously enumerated, I have prepared a comprehensive report which will be forwarded to the Apple management (not the community hosts) by recorded delivery. They will discover they have a formidable complainant.

Really wasn't too hard to read anything in my post, and it was not edited.

1. You apparently were using an ASC email account that was working in both directions.

2. You had an exchange with the hosts and they considered it finished as they stopped responding.

3. The hosts did not want this email address in the open forums, just like all other email addresses here, so they edited it out of your posts.

4. You already had an email address that worked.

You did not say in your first post that you were looking for an email address for a supervisor or other person.

Recorded delivery? This seems like something entirely blown out of proportion.
