Iphoto notification showing on the iphoto app icon for no apparent reason

I have this problem too. It has something to do with comments in the Shared Photostream, but I cannot quite figure out how to solve it. Please help.

exactly where are you seeing this?

It's in the apps tray. Where you have facetime, Settings, Safari. iPhoto has a small red circle and number 1 in it.

You are talking about the Dock at the bottom of the screen? I've never seen that on my Mac - no idea what it means

I believe it may indicate a new photo in a Shared Photo Stream.

I've had this problem myself. In my case, it seemed to disappear by going to Preferences > Photo Stream, and then turning 'My Photo Stream' on, then off again.

This is going on for me, and I've done this:

to fix it, with no results. I'd like control over that icon, as my OCD is making me keep it out of the dock. I know I can check on photostream to remove the icon, but I'd rather not have to.

Only thing that worked for me:

Go to iPhoto preferences on your Mac > iCloud > uncheck photo sharing at the bottom > activate photo sharing again.........wait.............

Tadaaa iPhoto Dock notification gone :-)
