Ipod Touch 5g-Battery Issue

Has anyone had a problem with their Ipod touch 5g battery life lately? I downloaded ios 6.0.1 2 days ago, didn't have a problem.

My problem started today. I woke up this morning, checked my mail for about 10 minutes (100% battery life), went to school listening to music (still 100% battery life). I used a pdf for 15 minutes (95% batterly life). These are things i normally do.

Two hours later at school, I noticed that my Ipod was off (and I didn't turn it off), and really hot. I turned it back on the what was 95% now was 55-60%. That's a first since having this device. By the end of the day (5 hours of school), it was red 20%. Interesting.....

I came home, charged it to 55-60%, removed it from the charger, slept for 2 hours, battery life is 15%.

1. Bluetooth is off.

2. Apps are not running in the background.

3. Ipod only fetches 3 email accounts.

Is no one else Ipod Touch 5 doing this? I barely see anything in the ipod forum about this. Interestingly enough, I find that many iPhone users face this problem and then there's me.... I don't know whether to send it back or an exchange, or wait for the next ios update.

I find it useless to use. If I keep it on the charger and it's constantly fighting to maintain 100%, the battery itself is slowly dying.

Hi! I got my iPod touch last wednesday, and it worked very well. At night I plugged it to the iMac to synchronize and updated the iOS 6.0.1. The next day (yesterday) at morning, I checked the weather and blocked the iPod. When I was going to leave for school, I grabbed the iPod and noticed it was hot in the back. Well, the iPod refused to answer to the button commands. I connected back to the iMac but did not respond.

It's an iPod touch 5th Generation (Product RED) I bought it online in the Apple Store one week ago. It was in use less than 24 hours. I called to the Support Service and they gave me an e-mail to send the product for repair.

Greetings from México.

I'm having this same problem!! My brand new 5th gen ipod touch came in the mail a week ago and it was doing perfectly fine until that new software update, after that my battery started losing power at a rapid rate and my ipod started heating up. I remember one night I charged it to 100% and then I turned it off completely before I went to sleep. When I turned it on the next morning the power was at 75%. I read other people's response to your problem and one of them mentioned that they were having this problem with their 5th ipod touch (PRODUCT RED) My itouch is a Product Red version as well. I'm beginning to suspect this might be a common defect amongst the Product Red itouchs. Do you have a product red itouch as well? I am planning on returning it to apple.

well mine is blue and there's a problem as well. so i'm not sure if its a red problem. I'm kinda relieved more ipod touch 5g users are experiencing this.... for a minute i thought it was just me....

Anyone know about apple repaire (not the store) turnaround time or there location? I want to RMA this today!! however I would need it back before the 22, cause i'm going somewhere. A mess....

Sorry to burst your RED bubble 😉 but i got myself the silver one.

This is the first iOS device (2 Touch's + 2 iPads) which arrived with the battery fully discharged (so much for setting it up w/o iTunes 😮.

Connecting it to my Mac Pro it took around 40 minutes for iTunes to finally recognize it. Charged it overnight, disconnected and left it on my desk as i had things to do. About 4 hours later, batt. indicator was already down to half.

Did a Restore, then plugged it to a USB wall charger. Overnight again, disconnected, and did the loop a song bought from the iTunes store. Within 6 hours it was dead as a doorknob. This puppy is going back.

I won't be happy though if I get a recoditioned one as a replacement seeing that i bought this one new just last week.
