Delete past events in subscribed calendar

I have subscribed to a US holiday calendar on iCal. I don't mind the past holidays showing up on my macbook iCal, however on my iPhone this is annoying. I like having my calendar app on the iPhone show today's events - future events. Not past events. With my own calendars I simply delete past events that already occured. WIth a subscribed calendar I do not have this option because I do not maintain the calendar that is being subscribed to.

Does anybody know how I can hide these events on the iPhone iCal app? I have the settings set to show/sync only events that are 2 weeks old, but they still show up!

OR

Does anyone know of a US Holiday calendar that I can subscribe to that deletes past holidays?

Further, I do not want to import a calendar that I then can maintain because I'd rather simply subscribe to one that is always maintained, etc.....the purpose of subscribing...

Thanks!

Has anyone found a solution to this? I know this is an old thread, but this is the only post I can find about this problem. I find it hard to believe that glitzer14 and I are the only ones with this problem/question. Apple, make it so we can delete these past holidays. I have holidays stuck in my iCal app from 2013, it is now 2015. same issue when using the birthdays calendar.
