LTE not available on LTE enabled network in Belgium (Belgacom)

I was very excited about the opening of the first public LTE network in Belgium by the carrier Belgacom.

This carrier runs LTE on 1800MHz which is supported by my european iPhone 5.

Apparently Apple blocks access or is not willing to provide a carrier settings update for us to access this LTE network?

Bennydirinck,

You are absolutely right! Your informative posts have disappeared. I have kept all the Apple Support email notifications on this discussion so I have a record of all the threads.

I have been checking the Apple press releases. Isn't it strange that Apple has not reacted to the excellent recent Belgian legislation.

I shall now wait and see if this post is censored.

Hi there,

I just heard yesterday that Proximus is releasing 4G network for ALL its clients except for iphone owner because Apple doesn't unblock this part on its products.

I bought myself the iphone 5s which has the 4G LTE, allowing me to surf outside the house, but I see that paying almost 800€ for my phone is till not enough to use the full capacity of my new mobile!!

When is Apple going to unblock it and allow all its faithfull customer to fully use their new devices compatible with 4G LTE???

It better be fast, because it starts to be quite expensive for a phone without having the possibility to use its full capacity!!

I'd like to get some positive feedback,

Thanks

The iPhone users in Belgium are not alone...

We face the same problems in Poland on the network called Plus or in Germany E-Plus or many other around the globe.

Fact is, Apple won't unblock the devices without special profile which is provided to a carrier only with

an official partnership with Apple.

So pathetic.

I can't wait for Apple to get punishment in Belgium and I hope that another countries will follow!

This ridiculous LTE policy has to come to an end!

False.

Since the iPhone does not do voice over LTE, the carriers must have a network that can handle the hand off from LTE to 3G properly without degrading the customer experience. If they can show that they can, no "partnership" is necessary.

You don't know what you're talking about.

So tell us, if you know everything so much, why =>

- Mobistar, who has the worst network of belgium (tested by the consumer association test achat) have the agreement.

- why, if it is really a quality matter, the iPad in Belgium does have the 4G officially unlocked for proximus and base but the iPhone don't??!!

It seems to me that you don't know either what you're talking about..or you love of apple makes you blind...

Don't know. Don't care. It's against the TOS to discuss Apple policy decisions, anyway.

Because the iPad doesn't have to transitions between GSM and LTE on the fly while not losing an established data connection. If you would have bothered reading what I wrote, you wouldn't have to ask stupid question.

If you don't care, why are you still loosing your time on this topic?!

You don't know the quality of the Belgians networks because you don't live here.

Mobistar has always been the worse carrier and still is. Proximus has launch a great 4g network and it works perfectly well with all other devices. Including my iPhone because I jailbroke it.

You can say whatever you want, but it IS the contract with Mobistar who is the problem. Everybody knows it here. Soon, apple will have to undo this restriction, a new law is coming against this type of discrimination on unlocked devices.

@poutchi Holy words... There's no carrier in the whole wide world that provides enabled 4G on iPhone without contract with Apple. That's why I know, it's a contract matter... There are so many iPhone users around the world who struggle with it, but finally it's all up to Apple to change its stupid LTE policy.

Uhm, what?
I've found lots of posts in this thread where you are describing Apple's policy decisions and how Apple works with carriers! Things like that they test the carrier's network and make sure it has the necessary requirements for iPhone usage, etc.

Now we show you an example of how Apple's policies don't stroke with the reality (Mobistar is not good)... and now you say: policy's aren't being discussed here?
