    +1 for that. I don't like his attitude towards Proximus customers at all ("screw proximus customers with a brand new iphone 5 without 4g "). He's only posting here to troll, just like KiltedTim.

    Indeed, don't let the trolls fool you about lists of what is considered supported and not. They just point at lists but don't understand those lists don't mean anything. For example visual voicemail. Visual voicemail is availaible on Mobistar but if you look at the list of supported features you will see it doesn't mention visual voicemail for Mobistar. Another example is Personal hotspot. If you look at the list it is not available in Belgium but stil Mobile Viking has personal hotspot for the iPhone enabled


    Then there are those that cite that because Mobistar sells the iPhone it won't come to Proximus. Well here's a newsflash for those guys. Mobistar isn't the official iPad resller. The iPad and iPad mini will soon be sold in Belgium with LTE and if you order them online you will be able to select a nano sim from either Proximus or Mobistar. What do you think will happen when people buy an iPad mini and find out LTE doesn't work it? They will complain and there is no one who's gonna accept an explanation "we are waiting for Mobistar"


    Like mentioned before LTE is a standard and unlike what's possible in the USA there are laws in place in the EU that forbid companies to restrict devices to use a standard tied to one or more companies.

    Called Apple Support, service rep checked with senior expert, and they gave me the "yes, Apple is negotiating with parties in Belgium to support LTE. When this happens, a carrier upgrade will be pushed out".

    I got word from an Apple Senior Advisor. It's not looking good for us guys...




    Waar wij vorige week van de kant van de provider berichten ontvingen dat zij het aanboden hebben wij gister een interne mail gekregen waarin staat dat wij het nog niet overal aanbieden. Het enige europese land is momenteel Duitsland. De rest zou volgen maar er is nog niet bekend op welke termijn. Blijkbaar moet er nog een update uitkomen die het mogelijk maakt.


    Het spijt mij voor het ongemak. Ik doe u hierbij de link toekomen waar een overzicht staat van landen die het momenteel wel aanbieden. Mijn advies zou zijn om hier af en toe te kijken of Belgie ertussen staat.



    Hopende u hiermee toch een beetje van dienst geweest te zijn.

    I don't see what needs to be negiotiated about that. They just need to push out a carrier update that enables LTE for Proximus, it's plain simple like that. Unless they are trying to get money from Proximus to enable this network standard on the iPhone, which would be full crazy and a violation of Belgian and EU laws.

    Wat is dat voor een zwakke uitleg van die senior advisor? Wat wil hij zeggen met "het nog niet overal aanbieden"? LTE is op dit moment inderdaad nog maar in acht steden beschikbaar, maar dat wil niet zeggen dat ze het daarom nog niet kunnen activeren. In Duitsland is er ook nog lang geen volledige LTE-dekking hoor!

    Contracts? That's too absurd for words. Apparantly, Apple thinks that its iPhone is so "amazing" that carriers need to pay them to be able to offer LTE on the "wonderful iPhone 5"...

    I couldn't agree more. If Apple charges money from Proximus to activate LTE on the iPhone 5, it would be fair enough if Sony, Samsung, Nokia and HTC would do the same. Consequently, Proximus could then raise its prices or ask more money for a LTE-enabled subscription. I know Apple isn't doing well on the stock markets in the last months, but that's no excuse for this kind of shameless greed.

    I was very excited with my iphone5 connected the Belgacom Proximus network in Belgium.

    This carrier runs LTE on 1800MHz which is supported by my european iPhone 5.


    Apparently Apple blocks access or is not willing to provide a carrier settings update for us to access this LTE network. Please why?


    Last year I'm verry disappointed to the attitude of Apple.

    Exactly. This kind of behaviour is one reason why I personally would NEVER buy an iPhone.


    It's a nice, but not a great, phone with a limited user experience, which does less than other manufacturers' phones, and needs a "contract" to enable basic functionality. All for top dollar.
