I normally use Outlook, but when I tried to use Mail today it isn't showing the latest mail in my iCloud account or letting me send mail. I checked the accounts preferences and the incoming server settings are now blank and won't let me edit them. I created a new account and was able to paste in the server settings from Outlook (p02-imap.mail.me.com), but after saving it mail still wouldn't work and the incoming server was blank again. I set it up as an iCloud account, and before when I did this I got my correct server info from Mail. They populated automatically. Very strange. Very fixable?

The new account I created now seems to be working properly. Very strange. Deleted the bad account.

The iCloud account is server based and should not be manually created in Lion or ML. If you have problems with it, sign out of iCloud in System Preferences. The account should delete itself from Mail's accounts in preferences. If it doesn't, select the iCloud account you manually created and delete it from Mail.

Sign back into iCloud and check the box to use Mail. The iCloud account will be automatically created for you in Mail.
