Hi,
When I view the network I can see all the workgroups and computers however the workgroup names are showing "/032" (without the quotes) where there would normally be spaces. I believe /032 is the ASCII value for a space but I don't know how to fix this. Any ideas?
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
I just realized I should probably mention that they are windows workgroups. But I have 2 old eMacs sitting here as well and they show the workgroup names just fine
Anyone please? I am in a business place and need this solved ASAP! 😕

Just a thought as you research this, but if the string for the path has spaces in it (like a URL), then one would want the ascii space code. A real space between characters would break the link for the path/URL.
I'm not entering a path. If I were entering a path and something in the path had spaces then I would just put quotations around the path. Also I've attached picutre of what I mean about the workgroup names
I could still really use some help on this!
Are these all groups shares from one OS X Server? What version? What happens if you reset a Workgroup's name using DSCL?
Also, did you generate these workgroup's somehow when you created them (like via script)?

This isn't an OS X Server. Not sure how the topic got moved here. Those are all windows workgroups containing windows computers with shares.

They automatically populate in the network when connected
This sounds like a Windows Server issue. Do all mac clients display the names that way?

No its just this mac that displays them that way. I have 2 old emacs sitting right beside me plugged into the same panel and they display the names just fine
Workgroup names are showing up with ASCII characters in them
