How do I remove app (that was never fully installed) from App Store?

User uploaded file

When I got my MacBook Air, iMovie started to install but I decided that I didn't want it on this machine and I cancelled the install. But ever since then, the App Store has been bugging me to update the app. Unfortunately, I can't remove it from my Purchases section because it says an error has occured.

Does anyone have a suggestion for getting this out of my App Store?

Not all apps can be dragged to the trash. Better first to check out if there is a formal uninstall option; that is more likely to completely remove it. App Zapper is also useful.

Having got rid of it, hiding it is the only option (just click on the tiny x that hovers against the install panel) as you cannot remove the entry from your purchase list.

This is essential in order to maintain the ability to reinstall that item free should you ever change your mind about deleting it.
