Ibook g4 server

Hi, I want to turn my ibook g4 laptop into a data server for my company i will be starting for clients and other things. How can i do it?

Hello,

Well your need a server version of the OS to start with. In particular what kind of server applications are you looking to run on your iBook? I wouldn't recommend using it for a server unless it's as a light web service like apache.

To setup FTP.


Create a new user or set a user to standard and not administrator (best advised)

Next click on "sharing" in system preferences. Click on "allow FTP access"


To use FTP protocol on another networked mac, you need to open thermal.

or you could download an application called 'Big Red Button' which is a free FTP application.
