How do I copy or sync calendar on to my computer? iTunes saying "no supported calendar application can be found"

You need one of the following:
Microsoft Outlook 2003, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Microsoft Office 2010 (Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7)

What type of computer do you have, running which operating system?
Mac users sync with iCal/Calendar, whereas Windows users generally sync with Outlook.

hmm I guess I'd have to pay to get one of those? I have microsoft word but I don't seem to be able to find what kind of Microsoft Office I have? Maybe I don't even have it? Everything on my computer is legit but I can't find plain old "Microsoft Office", just other things like Microsoft Office Excel 2007 etc.
If you don't already have it (it often comes with Word, Excel & PowerPoint), you'll have to buy it - it's not free.

Microsoft Office is the whole suite. If you have Excel 2007 you have Office 2007. So you have Outlook. Search for Microsoft Outlook in your program files.
weirdly enough I can't find it and only seem to find Microsoft Works, whatever that is....... looked and there is absolutely no Microsoft Office except for all the variations of it - Excel, powerpoint etc.... just googled Microsoft Works and apparently it is a smaller cheaper version of Microsoft Office!
You 're right. So the only free solution (as i know) is to use iCloud through your browser.
