Podcast intermittently getting error 8006

Most of the time, access to the podcast through iTunes fails with an 8006 error. Recently, the store has stopped updating episodes as well. However, there are intermittent moments where iTunes WILL be able to see the new episodes and download them if I do an "Update Podcast" or "Show All Available Episodes" on it.

My feed validates at feedvalidator.org.

When I get the 8006 error, I am still able to access the site and files outside of iTunes. Also, when subscribing to the RSS feed via RSS Readers, there are no issues getting to all the episodes.

My podcast links are:

Can anyone out there please help? Thanks.

The first time I tried to subscribe to your podcast it failed with an 'unexpected error'. I was able to access the feed from FireFox, and then when trying again in iTunes it worked OK.

I can only conclude that your server is sometimes not responding correctly - it may be that it fails on the first request after a period, but then is OK on subsequent tries: this is somthing you could test. You will need to take this up with the people running your server.

Roger, that's just about the exact same kind of behavior I have been seeing as well.

Do you have any ideas as to the right questions I should be asking my host provider? Any previous discussions I had basically had them telling me, "we can get to your domain and access the files in a browser, so there's no issue."

Why would there be file access issues via iTunes but not through browsers or RSS readers?

I'm afraid I can't give you a solid answer to that one. I have seen other cases where a server wasn't responding to iTunes though it was fine with a browser, though usually it was consistent rather than intermittent. One person found it was a permissions issue with the particular directory on the server: in his case it was the media files and he was able to move them to another directory. You can't just do that with the feed because the Store will lose contact with it, and it has to be able to read the feed for you to be able to move it to another URL - the method is descibed here:

Other than that we're into server technology which is outside my experience.
