Image Capture Error with Lexmark P4350

For some reason the scanner function with my Lexmark all-in-one has stopped working correctly. The Image Capture app starts up, but is then not responding and has to be force quit. The left hand pane in the app shows: LEXMARK....ERROR. It was working fine not so long ago - no idea what's changed.

I've tried (I think) all the usual stuff; removing printers, resetting the print que, deleting the Printer folder in the Library, re-installing the software etc, but can't get rid of this problem. I've tried going back to older version of the drivers and software too, but no joy.

Can anybody help me track this one down?

Thanks.

Try this, go to system preferences>print/fax, highlight the printer and delete it. (minus sign) with the printer off connect it to the USB on the Mac and turn on the printer. If it does not show up by itself, click add printer and type in the name Lexmark P4300 ,set it as your default printer from the drop down menu. Hope this helps.

For the last time: This is not a cable issue.....

I have tried different cables. So many Lexmark users cannot all have cable issues with a Lexmark scanner and Image Capture and Mountain Lion.

Please stop giving such advice for an issue that is patently related to software. Look at the discussion forums and see that there are many, many Mac users with exactly the same problem and the same symptoms.
