My iPad keeps locking itself every few seconds, any ideas how to fix it... Drives me crazy as the screen keeps going blank and I have to constantly put in my pass code every few seconds. Can someone help me out please. The pass code lock is set at 10 minutes but it's happening every few seconds :(

Hello Jackie, I had to go through a lot to reply here but anyways I have been experiencing this issue on my iPad only. My iPhone seems to be working perfectly but my iPad Air 2 will just automatically go blank then the waiting circle will spin in the middle of the screen for a few seconds and it will ask for my passcode. So my questions are how to fix this from recurring and why only on the date December 2nd? Can I just manually change the date to Dec 1 or something other and wait until tomorrow to set it to update automatically? Or maybe just turn the iPad off until tomorrow? Please let me know something soon, I have a lot of work on my iPad and I’m worried as to whether I can potentially lose it or even worse. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

Wow, that was a “lightning“ response! Thank you so very much for the reply. Currently I am on my iPad now. It seems to have fixed it, but right before I updated I forgot to change the date to Dec 1st. And remembered in the middle of the update! My anxiety these days... Although forgetting to change it, I went through the iOS 11.2 update successfully and it hasn’t froze up so far and seems to be working beautifully as before. You are the best help! Thank you so much.

Hi. Seems you have the dec 2 date bug. It depends if you have ios11.2 already. If you don’t then simply update your iOS on iPad

If you do have ios11.2 go straight to step2 below

You won’t loose anything by doing the following. 1. Manually change your date to dec1st. Then update to ios11.2

2. Then Goto settings display and brightness and change the auto lock to 5 mins

Experienced the same thing. Accessed the iMovie app today and a few moments after, my phone experienced repeated screenlock (which happened every minute). I tried the following actions to solve the problem:

1. Deleted some photos and videos to free up memory space as I initially thought it was due to phone memory overload. - nothing happened

2. Changed autolock settings to 5mins - nothing happened

3.

Hard restart - nothing happened

4. Phone reboot - nothing happened

5. Updated software to iOs11.2 - immediately solved the problem. As of typing this reply, it has been 30mins since ios update and so far, no incidence of autoscreenlock yet. So I guess it worked!

You may try steps 1 to 4 first or you mag skip to the 5th (i suggest the latter) haha! hope this helped! 😉

1. Try settings/general- Ipad cover lock/unlock OFF. Incase anything might be interfering.

2. Well you can try a reboot- Hold power and home button until the screen goes black(ignore red slider) and the apple logo appears. You wont loose data. That MIGHT help....

3. Any software issues the "user" is experiencing can be fixed with a restore. It will wipe the Ipad and put the IOS back on it. You have the thing lock every 10 minutes, reboot doesnt work, then it might be your only option.

I've run into the issue and it seems to be related to an app not fully supporting the iOS you're on, the reboot doesn't usually solve it.

I've solved it in the following manner(s):

1) Backup the device to iCloud, then erase the iPad (Content and Network Settings).

2) Setup the iPad and choose to restore from iTunes/iCloud Backup (wherever you backed it up)

3) Perform any software updates

I have not tried simply performing the software updates (which may fix it, but if it doesn't you won't be able to perform the above steps).

Enjoy.
