iphone 5 custom vibrations not working

Hi There

Just got the new iphone 5 last week and i have encountered a problem with the custom vibrations on my phone. Whichever vibration mode I pick from sounds > ringtone > vibration, (Alert, heartbeat, quick, rapid, sos, staccato and symphony) has the same pattern. It just vibrates for as long as i take to answer any call! Continuous non stop vibration. Haven´t really read/heard of anyone else with this problem. I have already tried factory resetting the phone and installing the IPSW through wifi and through itunes but it doesn't seem to work. No accidents/drops since I bought it. Any help/advise?

I have this same issue! Except with a custom vibration I created myself. Even though I've selected this custom vibration for all notifications (Text, Email, Etc), the old vibration still persists (Alert). Argh!!!

So, took my phone to the apple store and they have me a new one. Everything working just fine. Apparently it was a hardware problem, the vibration motor just got stuck.

Hope you can all fix this shniz.

I bought my phone in Canada. I live in Turkey. And there isn't apple store here. so I can not take a new one. I thing it isn't a hardware problem. because when I create new vibration and fingering it is vibrate partite at record. and than it's consistent vibrate at play.it should be software bug?

Well I called Apple customer care and after restoring and upgrading the iPhone they said it was a hardware problem and changed my iPhone for a new one.

Is it possible that there are two contacts in your phone book with the same phone number? I had a similar issue where the custom vibration was not working when my wife would call me, even though I had the custom vibration set for the "Wife" entry in my contacts. I don't know how it happened, but something automatically created another entry for her within my contacts under her full name, and this alternate contact also had her phone number in it. So whenever I got a call from her, my phone would display "<Her Full Name> OR Wife." I guess since the phone didn't know which contact was calling, it just used the default vibration. Now I have deleted the second entry for her and the custom vibration is working as normal.

Not sure if this applies to your specific case, but it may apply to others who search for "iPhone custom vibration not working" and find this thread.
