Internet connectivity locking up on new iPad 4

I've noticed an odd bug with my new iPad 4. This is a brand new 4th Gen iPad, 64GB, wifi only model running 6.0.1. When I connect to the internet via wifi, I notice that it will randomly "lock up" from time to time, as if the wifi connection has completely disconnected, but without any notification. This happens at home (I have an airport extreme and one airport express with N), at work as well as various free wifi hotspots such as Starbuck's, etc. I suspect it is something about the actual iPad as opposed to any specific router connection. I am posting this in the hopes that others might have encountered this odd random freezing during internet connections? Thanks all!!

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• Launch Settings app

• Tap on Wi-Fi

• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Thank you much for the prompt response. However, most of the connectivity issues rests with routers that I have no control over (i.e. free wifi at work and at my fav coffee shops, etc.). The iPad shows that it is still connected to the internet (the little wifi icon in the upper left hand corner (by the word "iPad"), but the actual internet just stops responding. For example, I might be looking at a website, and the whole thing will simply lock up, yet continue to show apparent connectivity. I will read through the various links provided (thanks again very much) and perhaps some of the information will help shed some light on what might be going on. Having to constantly turn off and turn on the iPad is just the tiniest bit frustrating.

I do have to say that the last comment concerning holding the iPad by hand causes me to have some heart palpitations in bringing up the iPhone 4 "your holding it wrong" memories!!
