Can you put a retina LCD in the older non retina iPad 2 3G?

I would like to know if the new retina display will fit in my older iPad 2 3G?

If it will fit, will the older iPad 2 be able to run it?

Planning to replace the glass on the older iPad and thinking of changing the LCD if it will work.

Thanks

iPad 2, iOS 6.0.1
